For a financial services client, we wanted a strong metaphor for hand-craftsmanship. I researched various trades and found Dave Stine, a woodworker in Southern Illinois. He was the ideal subject – he sourced wood from his own forest on land that had been in his family for 5 generations, and made timeliness pieces with his bare hands. The piece was produced over 2 shoot days with a crew of 6 that I sourced and hired.
As part of the project, we did a profile on Dave Stine and his business. I conducted the interview and directed editing on the piece, which I think gives a great balance of dedication, emotion and passion for his craft.
